I’m taking an interest in the B05 because it seems to fit into a very tricky segment here in Europe: that of compact electric cars, where the natural benchmark today is the Volkswagen ID.3.
What intrigues me is that Leapmotor isn’t entering an easy niche, but a category where size, price, real-world range and perceived quality matter enormously. If the B05 really does arrive with aggressive positioning, it could become one of the most interesting alternatives for anyone looking for an electric car that’s not too big but still usable every day.
For now, I won’t commit myself on equipment or technical details, because between Chinese and European versions things often change quite a bit. I’d rather wait for official data for the EU market, especially on infotainment, driver assistance and trim levels.
In my view, it’ll be worth weighing up properly as soon as the UK price lists and specification sheets are released.
