On my B10 I wanted to use Fermata via Android Auto to have a more complete media player, with audio, video, YouTube, browser and also free TV channels. The main doubt was where to download it from and why on some phones it didn’t appear or didn’t work properly.
The cause, in my case, seems to be mainly linked to the Android version of the smartphone: with Android above 14 the standard Fermata may not work.
Here’s what I did:
- I downloaded Fermata from the official releases page: Releases · AndreyPavlenko/Fermata · GitHub
- I installed the app on the Android phone
- I connected the smartphone to the B10 with Android Auto
- From there I checked whether Fermata appeared among the available apps
If the phone is running Android above version 14, I believe you need to use Fermata Extreme instead of the standard version. In that case the right approach is to look for the specific instructions for Fermata Extreme, because the classic version may not be enough.
Important note: if you only see “Fermata Media” and not “Fermata Auto”, or the TV channels don’t start, it’s not necessarily a B10 problem. It could depend on the Android version, the type of installation, or the loaded list.
