I noted down a few interesting points from the 2026 Paris Motor Show, where Leapmotor is being compared with brands like BYD, Geely and Tesla.
The thing that strikes me as most concrete is that in 2026 the competition in the electric car market will be even more aggressive, especially for SUVs and saloons. There’s a lot of talk about range, charging, performance and prices, so not just looks or novelty effect.
For Leapmotor, the thing to keep an eye on, in my view, is precisely the positioning in Europe: if it manages to keep prices competitive without cutting too much on equipment and support, it could become a much more seriously considered choice even for people who today only look at Tesla or BYD.
Obviously, for the European versions, it’s always worth checking the actual equipment carefully, because the models shown or mentioned outside Italy often have different specifications from those that arrive on our market.
