I’ve been looking carefully at the actual numbers for home charging, and one case caught my attention: with a dedicated meter and the standard granny charger, the estimated overall loss was around 25%.
As far as I could gather, the situation was as follows:
- dedicated line for charging
- 6 mm² cable
- roughly 28 metres in length
- using the standard charger
I’m keen to understand whether this falls within a plausible range or whether that value seems too high to you.
For those of you who are genuinely monitoring consumption at the socket and not just the figures read in the car, what differences are you seeing?
In my view, this is a very useful topic, because between losses, cable lengths and the charger used, people often speak in general impressions rather than in actual figures.
