I needed to leave the B10 locked while keeping the dashcam recording, for example during a long stop. The problem was that locking the car normally stopped the recording.
I couldn’t work out whether this was a deliberate limitation of the software or just how it handles shutdown, but in my case I got round it by using camping mode.
Here’s what I did:
- I turned camping mode on;
- I switched off the stereo, the climate control and, if it was evening, the interior lights as well;
- I got out, leaving the driver’s window down;
- I locked the car using the button on the steering wheel;
- I wound the window back up.
This way the car stays locked, but with camping mode active the dashcam keeps recording. In my case I left it like that for about 4 hours and the battery didn’t drop by even 1%.
Note: if you’ve set the mirrors to fold with a double-press of the button on the steering wheel, you can fold them in during this procedure as well. Otherwise they’ll stay unfolded. I’d still recommend trying it out first during a short stop, so you can check that the recording actually stays on in your B10.
