It wasn’t easy finding insurance for my B10; neither comparison sites nor many individual company websites recognised the model or the registration number. However, in the end, I went with Unipol.
Hello everyone, I wanted to share my (quite absurd) experience with purchasing a Leapmotor B10 Design ProMax in Turin, hoping it might be useful for anyone considering a purchase.
After deciding to buy the car from the official Stellantis&You dealership, I asked to activate the Allianz Lithium policy (the one specific for Stellantis group electric cars, with cable and battery protection).
The problem: The dealership curtly replied that it is not possible to activate any official insurance cover if the car is purchased with cash. According to them, insurance options are exclusively reserved for those who take out a loan with Stellantis Financial Services.
What I’ve done so far:
Contact Abroad: I tried to contact the Protect/Emil Frey team (which manages Leapmotor abroad), but rightly so, they replied that they only operate in Switzerland and that for Italy I need to deal with the local network.
Complaint Email to Stellantis/Leapmotor: I sent a formal email to the offices of Stellantis Italia and the Leapmotor International headquarters in Turin (Via Plava). I pointed out that it is unacceptable that in Italy (where the cars are finished for Europe) a customer who pays for the car in full is discriminated against compared to those who take out a loan, by being denied the insurance services dedicated to the brand.
External Insurance: For now, given Stellantis’s silence and the dealership’s unresponsiveness, I am proceeding independently with a physical Allianz agency to try and activate “Lithium” privately, bypassing the dealership.
The paradox: They sell you a hyper-technological car but then, if you don’t go into debt with them, they deny you the accessory services they advertise. Has anyone else had the same problem in Turin or other cities? Is it possible that the only way to seriously protect the B10’s battery and ADAS is to rely on external companies because the ‘official’ dealership doesn’t cooperate?
