On the C10 REEV, in my opinion the most useful thing to understand is not the big number thrown around for total range, but how the car changes when the most favourable electric portion runs out and you start using it the way an ordinary family would: urban stretch, main road, motorway, a quick stop, then setting off again.
The question I’d ask myself before getting one is a very practical one: does this car still feel convincing when you genuinely start mixing electric miles, the petrol engine kicking in, and perhaps a charge in the middle of the journey? Because that’s where you find out whether a REEV is just a psychological sticking plaster for people who are scared of the charging point, or a properly thought-out solution for those who travel a lot.
If anyone has already gathered real-world data on average consumption, range in pure EV mode, and behaviour once the petrol engine has cut in, I think this could turn into a really useful discussion. More than any single figure, I’m interested in the full picture of how it performs in mixed use.
