How I'm managing charging to preserve battery life

For some time now, I’ve been trying to be a bit more methodical with charging, especially to avoid putting unnecessary stress on the battery.

In my day-to-day use, I try to stay roughly between 20% and 80%, without always going up to 100% unless I really need to. It seems like a sensible habit for everyday use, particularly when the car sits idle for quite a few hours after charging.

Every now and then, however, I do a slow AC charge up to 100%, mainly to help with calibrating the percentage reading on the car. I try to do this only when I know I’ll be using the car within a few hours, so it doesn’t sit fully charged for too long.

I don’t know if it’s the perfect strategy, but for now it feels like a reasonable compromise: more conservative day-to-day charging, and 100% only now and then, when it genuinely makes sense.

Hi, on a C10 REEV the dealer’s advice was to charge the battery up to 90% as indicated by the Leapmotor on-board system. Usually, having a bit of a journey to do, it’s charged up to 92%, then it stays put overnight and is used the following morning. To 100% only when you have to do a bit of a journey straight after, so as not to leave the battery fully charged for too long. The recalibration hasn’t been done yet, but it will probably be carried out shortly.
