I once left my smartphone, set up as a key, inside the B10 and locked the car using the button on the door handle. When I returned to the car, I discovered that I could reopen it by pressing the same button again.
The behaviour depended on the combination of the smartphone left inside the cabin and the handle button locking option still being active.
I sorted it out by changing the locking and unlocking settings:
- I turned off the handle button locking;
- I left only the automatic lock and unlock enabled;
- after the change, I checked it was working by walking away from and back towards the car with the smartphone.
This way I no longer risk locking the car with my phone inside using the button, and then allowing it to be reopened from the handle. Of course, it’s still better not to leave the smartphone in the car: anyone who managed to get into the car shouldn’t be able to drive it away without the code, but they could still get into the cabin and access any belongings inside.
