Leapmotor production in Spain between Villaverde and Zaragoza

It seems like interesting news for those following Leapmotor in Europe: the Stellantis factory in Villaverde, near Madrid, is expected to be transferred to Leapmotor International through the Spanish subsidiary.

The practical point is that this would give Leapmotor more production capacity in Europe, with cars considered as community-made and therefore not subject to the tariffs applied to imports from China.

What interests me most, however, is Figueruelas, near Zaragoza: production of the B10 is expected to start there soon. The same plant currently produces models such as the Opel Corsa, the electric Peugeot 208 and the Lancia Y. There is also talk of a possible second Leapmotor model in the future.

For us Europeans, this could mean more stable lead times, less reliance on imports, and perhaps a simpler distribution arrangement. Obviously, as for the details of the EU versions, one always needs to check, as not all the features of the models outside Europe arrive identical over here.
