B10 handover checklist: what to actually check before leaving the dealership

I’m about to collect my B10 and I’ve put together a checklist so I don’t forget even the most obvious things at the moment of handover. I want to check carefully the panel alignment and assemblies, all interior and exterior lights, the door and electric tailgate closures, the profile configuration, email and app with QR code, the presence of two NFC cards and the physical key, mats, two charging cables, the compressor/tyre repair kit, and the window breaker under the driver’s seat.

If possible, I’d also like it handed over with a minimum amount of charge and with the software already checked, so I don’t run into issues on the very day of collection. If there’s anything else you reckon it’s worth checking straight away at the dealership, I’ll happily add it to the list.

1. Aesthetics and Bodywork (The “Light Rule”)

Inspect the car in sunlight or under powerful floodlights.

  • Panel Alignment: New-generation Chinese cars have come on leaps and bounds, but check that the gaps between the doors, bonnet and boot are even on both sides.

  • Paintwork: Look for tiny specks of dust trapped under the paint or transport scratches (often caused during unloading from the ship/transporter).

  • Seals: Check that the window and roof seals are properly seated and don’t show any “ripples”.

2. Electric Heart and Charging

  • Cables Supplied: Make sure both are present (usually the Type 2 cable for charging points and the domestic granny charger with a Schuko plug).

  • Charging Flap: Open and close it 3–4 times. It should glide smoothly without forcing it.

  • State of Charge (SoC): By law the car shouldn’t be at zero, but ask for it to be at least 80%. If it’s at 10%, insist they charge it up before you set off (this way you also check that the charging works).

3. Technology and Software (The “Brain”)

The B10 is a computer on wheels.

  • Account and App: Make sure the seller sets up the Leapmotor App on your phone with you and that the car shows as “paired”. Try unlocking it with your phone in front of them.

  • OTA Updates: Ask whether the software is updated to the latest available version.

  • Displays: Check for dead pixels on both screens (infotainment and instrument cluster).

4. Interior and Comfort

  • Odours and Stains: Check the headliner (the roof lining) and the seats. As it’s been shipped over, there should be no signs of damp.

  • Climate Control: Turn it up to maximum cold and maximum hot. On electric cars the heating is instant (heat pump) — if it takes 5 minutes, something’s not right.

5. Documents (Essential for Insurance)

  • Logbook and Insurance: Check that the chassis (VIN) on the logbook matches the one stamped on the windscreen or on the door frame.

  • Technical Datasheet for Insurance: Get confirmation of the exact power output (kW) and the original value to pass on to your policy.
